EUforIA
What is EUforIA?
EUforIA is an independent, non-profit youth organization based in Geneva, which aims to empower young people to take up today’s global challenges as the special mission of our generation.
Why EUforIA?
The current news coverage conveys an image of a world characterized by destruction, violence and despair. While this flood of discouraging “information” might raise our awareness of the need for action, it also creates a feeling of powerlessness and resignation. Even at the highest levels of the UN, for instance, attempts to solve global problems often do not yield the expected results. This makes it even more unlikely that young people like you and me (16 to 28 year-olds) will think of themselves as being able to contribute to the solution of today’s most pressing global challenges. Consequently, a vast potential of our generation remains untapped.
What does EUforIA do?
To counterbalance this tendency, EUforIA (www.euforiaction.org) designs stimulating and interactive events, where choosing from a wide variety of themes, curious participants interact with experts, young changemakers and initiatives that can answer their questions, from “How can I promote better integration of migrants in my community?”, to “What can I do locally to solve the global water problem?” or “How can I fight human trafficking in my neighborhood?”. After our events, inspired by the example of their peers and connected to concrete opportunities to make a difference, many young people become active by: launching their own projects, volunteering with existing initiatives and/or becoming more involved in society in general. With the ELAYS, we aim to go a step further, offering young people the opportunity to turn their personnal ideas on how to tackle global challenges into concrete, local projects.
Sounds familiar?
If you, too, are tired of complaining about all the things that do not work out in our world and prefer to focus on what you can actually do, then you are at the right place at EUforIA. It would be great if we could count on your commitment too! Write us for more information on how you could get involved with us.
But beware!
We are not dreamers, we are doers! Instead of pointlessly dreaming about saving the world or giving into resignation, we strive to find ways in which we can concretely contribute to the solution of global challenges, here and now.
