Urban MediArt
December 16, 2011 in impact award, Projects descriptions, Urban MediArt
Urban MediArt is a project meant to make people more conscious about their surroundings and how they act in their daily life. This is an all-year project which uses Graffiti on walls in Geneva to send positive messages to people at the same time as turning graffiti into a creative media-art tool. The goal is to reach many people in frequently used urban spaces to make them aware of the world they are living in.

For a more detailed project description :
Project Members: Vlad, Estelle, Iulia, Michèle
Topic: art, guerilla messaging, graffiti
Type of Activities: With the agreement of the city responsible or wall owners, we’ll transform between 5 and 10 grey walls in Geneva into 5-10 pieces of art. The work will be done by the graffers of Geneva with the cooperation of local people (we plan on organizing a workshop where people come together to discuss the message and the motive of the future graffiti). Our final work will be a powerful media tool which will show to people THE MIDDLE GROUND BETWEEN SAVING THE WORLD ALONE AND DOING NOTHING.
Goals:
- to push people to be more conscious and responsible in their daily life.
- let people come together and participate actively on a world changing event, starting in Geneva but acting as a model for the rest of the international cities
- to change the negative image of graffiti and use this way of expression to create works of art
Looking for: places to spray messages
What we need money for: utensils to spray, adverts, eventually an exhibition
